“ Architecture should provide Commodity, Firmness and Delight ”
17th century translation from 1st century Latin
“ But first, Architecture must solve Problems “
Ira Kurlander
In our crowded Bay Area, spacious sites with wide views are rare.
50 years of practice have presented me with every conceivable architectural problem:
Finding an adequate site and accessing it,
Enhancing a view or creating one,
Catching sunlight and controlling it,
Controlling noise and providing privacy,
Solving these problems while satisfying the clients requirements creates Good Architecture,
providing Delight at the same time creates Great Architecture.
